Selling Out

Our little Arizona house officially hits the sale market today. It won't feed out until later in the week, which is good because the place is a mess, but it's going on the market nonetheless. It's a bit of a mix of emotions doing this and leaving this place, but the move will put CP nearer to her extended family in the Kansas City area.

There are plenty of things that we've done here and proven that we can do, but for me there are still a few things that I didn't get accomplished. There aren't any fruit trees in the back yard, the garden project is still not a 501C3, and there are wonderful places in this state that I didn't get to share with my Lovely Wife and daughter. We did manage to fix up our little abode and make some real positive change in our living space. The walls have American Clay on them and it looks different at various times of day - sometimes grainy sand, sometimes leathery suede - always beautiful though. The garden out back is really green, the chickens are happy, and the desert landscape out front is thriving and bringing in all sorts of creatures.

We'll miss everyone here and miss out on some pretty big events that are coming up in our friends' lives, but we'll also share CP's life with extended family, which for me, is worth the hassle of selling out of here.

Our life is actually a series of interconnected lives we live and the story that they tell is what makes a life worth living. You'll look back at Tucson with fondness that you've described here, and will soon forget the not-so-good things you didn't like. Best of luck in selling your home and moving closer to family!

Good luck! Hopefully, you guys will do better than we did.

Thanks Katie, but I won't soon forget an a$$hat neighbor who came running down to my house with a pistol while his mom screamed a series of rambling nonsequitors at me.

Cort, if it comes down to taking a $60k loss, we'll have to stay here a while. Good news is, I don't think we'll have a hurricane any time soon.

I will miss you guys most of all, and have been in denial about the whole moving thing, but you're not selling out, just making a change. It's alright. Don't leave with resentment. You have a ton of good memories here to outweigh the bad: CP's birth, GABA and all the SAG trips, Mt. Lemmon, the Desert Museum, Fantasy Island, Christmas with the **ers, seeing the 'LW' tear up the streets in El Tour de Tucson, all the garden friends and the work you've done to make everything better there, the remodeling of your house and landscape, which has been quite impressive, watching Dianne and I blow the roof off when the Jayhawks won the championship and were seemingly the only people in T-town who gave a damn, and all the beautiful pictures you've taken here. You have to admit, the arid landscape has been inspiring. You don't have to justify your need to make a change. Don't let a crack monkey with a pistol make you regret the past five years. Those people are usually stuck, and it's not a place that defines you. I know I will never forget driving 24 hours straight to find you guys waiting for me with open arms. This place was rough at first, but doors have opened here for me that I never would have imagined, and that definitely outweighs the bad. This isn't the same as when you left Colorado, this has been your home.
